Fashion Has No Age: Christer Nedstrom
“Fashion does not belong to a specific age group,” says 63-year-old Swedish model Christer Nedstrom, who has become a familiar face at Georgia Fashion Week over the past several seasons.
With his elegant presence and understated confidence, Nedstrom brings a refreshing perspective to the runway — one that reflects the growing visibility of mature models in contemporary fashion.
What makes his story especially remarkable is that modeling entered his life only a few years ago.
“I started a new career at the age of 61 — but why not?” he says.
The idea first came unexpectedly, during a conversation with a friend in Portugal who was a model. She encouraged him to try modeling himself - a suggestion he initially dismissed.
"At first I thought, ‘No, I shouldn’t,’” he recalls. “But then I started thinking about it.”
Today, modeling remains both a passion and a part-time profession for Nedstrom, combining two things he especially enjoys: fashion and travelling.
“I feel at home in Tbilisi,” he says. “I’ve really been enjoying it here.”
As one of the oldest models participating in the shows, Nedstrom believes fashion should represent people of different generations just as naturally as it represents different styles and identities.
“I could be a father or even a grandfather to some of the models here,” he says. “But it feels like one community.”
For him, age inclusivity in fashion is not a trend, but a reflection of reality itself.
In an industry still often associated with youth, Christer Netzstrom’s story offers a different perspective - one rooted in confidence, individuality and the idea that personal style does not disappear with age.
