A New Life to your Denim

While Fashion Industry keeps contributing to the global waste, Fashion and Garment Chamber of Armenia continues to make decisive steps towards sustainability.
In different locations of Yerevan special containers are waiting for the citizens of Yerevan to donate their worn-out denim pieces.
The collected denim pieces will be upcycled in CreLab Kotayk (a creative hub founded by Fashion and Garment Chamber of Armenia) by the students and professionals of the sphere, reimagined and a new collection of reborn denim will be showcased in the framework of Yerevan Fashion Week 2025.
Fashion students will present creative ways of giving a new life to denim pieces by this serving as example to the other representatives of fashion industry of Armenia and their peers.
Through this important initiative Armenia says yes to sustainable fashion practices proving that sustainability can walk side by side with creativity.
Throwing his denim into the box at “5 Concept Store” the President of “Fashion and Garment Chamber of Armenia” Vahan Khachatryan himself made the first move thus paving the way for others to join – since then a number of influencers and fashion lovers have already joined the initiative.
Fashion industry produces 92 tonns of textile each year and is responsible for 10 percent of carbon emissions. It is also the second largest consumer of water globally.
The world has a new answer to this statistics – Circular Economy and Sustainable Fashion.
Circular Economy is a model of production and consumption which involves sharing, reusing, repairing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible by this extending the life cycle of products and Sustainable Fashion is a term for items of clothing made taking the human and environmental impacts of production into account to support a more just supply chain.
The Armenian Fashion is slowly joining the global fashion movement for a more sustainable ecology, conscious consumption by this creating another platform of self-expression and creativity.
Moreover, the number of eco-friendly fashion brands is increasing particularly among the younger generation.
“Denim Cycle” is not the only successful project of Fashion and Garment Chamber of Armenia. The organization has been supporting Sustainable practices from the very beginning of its creation.
The denim box locations can be found in shopping centers, stores, art hubs and cafes of Yerevan (Dalma garden Mall, State Academy of Fine Arts, 5 Concept Store, Art Kvartal etc.).
